Review - Mizuno JPX 850 Forged Irons - Go Time Golf

Go Time Golf Review Mizuno JPX 850 Forged Irons

Name of Manufacturer: Mizuno Golf  www.MizunoUSA.com

Name of Product: JPX - 850 Forged Irons (4-GW) - KBS C-Taper Lite Shafts - Stiff

Mizuno States: After 6 years of development - the introduction of BORON to Mizuno’s Grain Flow Forging process allows the JPX-850 Forged to overcome the distance limitations of traditional forged irons.
Mizuno’s new material is 30% stronger than traditional 1025E steel billets – allowing for a thinner face and extreme ball speeds. The result is an incredible iron that combines Grain Flow Forged precision and feel with shocking distance. A combination that was unachievable before BORON.
This new, thinner face is strategically reinforced by a Power Frame cavity which places weight to the extreme corners of the club head for maximum forgiveness along with increased distance. A clean, sleek design combined with these breakthrough technologies delivers an iron that looks and plays like nothing before.
I have played a number of Mizuno irons (MP32, MP59 & more) in the past. The new forging process utilizing BORON and all the technology that went into these irons have resulted in one of the best sets of irons on the market!
Pros:
- The JPX 850 Forged irons provide pin point accuracy, excellent ball flight and are birdie making machines.
- This is a very forgiving club but allows you to work the ball extremely well.
- As I'm sure you know Mizuno has the best shaft fitting system in the business!

Cons:
- We really couldn't find anything we didn't like with the JPX 850 Forged irons. If we had to stretch it would be a little thicker top line than in most Players Clubs.
- We would also like for Mizuno to add the new SuperStroke TX1 Grips to their lineup.

Performance & Playability: The JPX 850 Forged irons, in my opinion, fall into a category of their own. They are meant for players in the 6 - 16 handicap range but serve well for a lower HC Player that just doesn't get to play as much as they would like to - That's me! However, if you are a low double digit HC looking to get to a single digit HC the JPX 850 Forged irons are going to get you there! So now let's get down to business! Our JPX 850 Forged irons were fit with KBS C-Taper Lite shafts in Stiff and SuperStroke TX1 grips replaced the stock grips. The first thing we realized is that the clubs are long, accurate and forgiving - an excellent trio for any set of irons. They also have an extremely "soft" feel to them - No Surprise there - they are Forged Mizunos! We noticed that on mishits (everyone has them) that the ball maintained accuracy and lost very little distance. The long irons have a high trajectory and land softly - who doesn't love that? I found that on longer par 3s that I usually hit a hybrid into the 4 iron has taken it's place due to it's distance, flight and accuracy! The mid irons provided much of the same results wise! The scoring irons are just that - pin seeking shot after shot with hop and stop action on the ball! Birdie Machines!
Also, they may be one of the best clubs on the market out of the rough!

Innovation: Mizuno is an innovation leader in the golf equipment world. Their forging is second to none and they have taken it to a whole new level with the addition of BORON! I felt that the JPX 850 Forged irons were not quite as soft as other Mizuno irons I have played but still much softer than forged clubs by other manufactures. This set of irons has been in the making for 6 years and Mizuno has produced a WINNER!

Technology: These irons have it all! The Thinnest Forged Face ever - provides incredible distance. The Ultra CNC Pocket Cavity - provides easy launch & outstanding distance! And then there's the Power Frame Cavity that pushes the weight to all 4 corners for maximum forgiveness! The result of all this Technology is a set of irons that will change your game immediately!

Looks & Feel: Let's start with the look of the JPX 850 Forged irons. These irons look amazing from any angle! The produce confidence when you stand over every shot! Mizuno has done an excellent job of "disguising" all of the technology in these irons while maintaining a look that's appealing to all players. As for the feel, shots hit pure and mishits all come off the club face feeling similar - silky smooth!
They are Mizuno Forged irons - it doesn't get any better! PERIOD.

Go Time Golf Factor: We recommend that you give the JPX 850 Forged irons a test against any irons you are thinking of buying or currently playing. We are extremely confident that they will end up in your bag! The first full round I played with them produced hitting all 9 greens on the front and 6 of 9 on the back. I love the added distance, feel, forgiveness, look, workability and performance of the JPX 850 Forged Irons!
Yes - IT'S GO TIME!
